The Domestic Church is your service and prayer life for yourself and your family. All baptized Christians share in the priestly, prophetic, and kingly offices. That is to say, we ALL share in the responsibility to serve as “priests” being members of the universal priesthood through our sacrificial efforts to bring people to God. We serve as “prophets” through our witness to the truth in word and deed. And we serve as “kings” in our efforts to lead others—again through word and deed—to use our talents to advance the Kingdom of God (see CCC 1241). Indeed, being a Christian is not a passive engagement – it requires full and active participation in body, mind, and spirit both in the community (i.e.: your church) and the domestic church (i.e.: you and your family). Men, woman, and children, created in the image and likeness of God, are called by their baptism and chrismation to worship in community at their parish and and their home, as well as develop a fruitful personal relationship with our Lord.
