  • One Divine Liturgy offering on your behalf per month.
  • When our church is built, a plaque with your name & family will be placed in our community hall to permanently remind generations to come of your generosity and support for the Waco Byzantine Community.

About St. Joseph of Arimathea

St. Joseph was a wealthy and influential Jew who was waiting for the coming Messiah. He sat on the council of Jewish priests and elders, which condemned Jesus Christ to death. He abstained from the vote because he had become a secret follower of Christ. After the Crucifixion, he requested the body of Christ from Pontius Pilate, and with the help of St. Nikodemus, buried Jesus in his own tomb. He was condemned, and spent to rest of his days spreading the Good News. His feast day is July 31st.

How to Give

Give through your IRA

If you are 70½ years old or older, you can take advantage of a simple way to benefit the Waco Byzantine Catholic Community and receive tax benefits in return. You can give up to $100,000 from your IRA directly to a qualified charity (like your favorite campus ministry!) without having to pay income taxes on the money.

Giving through your Will or Living Trust

You want to leave money to the Waco Byzantine Catholic Community in your will. You also want the flexibility to change your will in the event that life circumstances change. You can do both!

A donation to the Waco Byzantine Catholic Community in your will or living trust helps ensure that we can continue our mission for years to come. There are three types of requests to consider. Here is some recommended verbiage to consider with your lawyer:

A Residual Bequest

A residual bequest comes to us after your estate expenses and specific bequests are paid:
I give and devise the Waco Byzantine Catholic Community, located in Waco, Texas, all (or state a percentage) of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, both real and personal, to be used for its unrestricted use (or for the support of a specific fund or ministry).

Specific Bequest

Naming the Waco Byzantine Catholic Community as a beneficiary of a specific amount from your estate is easy:
I give and devise to the Waco Byzantine Catholic Community, located in Waco, Texas, the sum of $______ (or named property such as a number of shares of stock or a mutual fund) to be used for its unrestricted use (or for the support of a specific fund or ministry).

Contingent Bequest

The Waco Byzantine Catholic Community can be named as a contingent beneficiary in your will or personal trust if one or more of your specific bequests cannot be fulfilled:
If (insert name) is not living at the time of my demise, I give and devise to the Waco Byzantine Catholic Community, the sum of $ (or all or a percentage of the residue of my estate) to be used for its unrestricted use (or for the support of or a specific fund or ministry).

Many benefactors prefer the increased flexibility that a beneficiary designation provides by using a life insurance policy

It only takes three simple steps to make this type of gift. Here’s how to name the Waco Byzantine Catholic Community as a beneficiary:

  • Contact your, insurance company for a change-of-beneficiary form.
  • Decide what percentage (1 to 100) you would like us to receive and name us, along with the percentage you chose, on the beneficiary form.
  • Return the completed form to your insurance company.

These are three different ways to make a planned gift.  There are so many more ways to give that you can discuss with an attorney, insurance agent, tax advisor, or a financial planner
